Devon’s Discoveries: Diaper Bag Organization

The day finally arrived— Baby #2 was born about a week and a half ago and we couldn’t be more excited!  Baby G is a delight: happy, sleepy, and cuddly… and Bean is slowly but surely adjusting to big sisterhood.  I guess we’re all adjusting to becoming a family of four and we’ve already instituted some changes to make things run a little more smoothly.  One of my first orders of business was to get my diaper bag in order.  Juggling diapers, wipes, spare clothes and all of the other stuff you have to cart around with a newborn and a 21-month old is no laughing matter.  So I turned to zulily for some help in getting my diaper bag in tip-top shape.  I ordered two different bags, one for each girl’s diapers and wipes.

I also ordered this cool wet bag, which I’m using to store a change of clothes for each girl.  I love this bag because you can store wet clothes in here, which will come in handy when we have the inevitable accident.

My diaper bag may be a complete disaster in a few weeks, but right now it looks like a shining example of organization.  And hopefully it’ll keep me and my sleep-deprived brain from putting newborn-sized diapers on Bean!

Devon is a wife (of “DA”), mother two, former History professor, and lifelong shopper.  She grew up with a self-proclaimed shop-aholic and sale-aholic mom, so she’s been in training for discovering cool stuff and great deals since she can remember.  Devon lives in Seattle, Washington, where she is mostly okay with the rain but sometimes pines for her hometown in Southern California.  With a little one at home and a crazy life, Devon is all about doing her shopping on the internet and zulily has been a dream come true for her with its variety, value, and quality.

We loved Melissa’s request for a stylish diaper bag and while we wish we were running a diaper bag boutique for her to browse, we can share a few of our favorite brands to look out for!
We absolutely adore timi & leslie, Petunia Pickle Bottom, and Diaper Dude to name a few!  Head on over to their brand pages; you can learn more about their products, add them to your My Favorite Brands page, and be the first notified upon their return to the site!

the newbie: Is there a stylish diaper bag out there?
by Melissa Walker, who can be found blogging at http://www.melissacwalker.com

I have a confession: I’ve been using a beat-up old tote bag to carry around June’s portable changing pad, diapers, pacifier, etc. But now that she’s getting older, I’ve had to add little snacks to the mix, plus bigger diapers and more toys. I give up: I think I need an official Diaper Bag.

The problem is that I can’t seem to find any that I like. At all. I’ve looked online, in stores, checked out friends’ picks. But still… I haven’t pulled the trigger. I need a bag that my husband won’t refuse to carry (this means neutral colors and no frills), and I also want one that doesn’t scream, “Mom here! Got my diapers with me!” I’m still trying to seem semi-cool, most days.

I live in New York City, so when I carry a bag, I’m carrying it all day long (not leaving it in a car) so it should be big but not crazy unwieldy. And it’d be a bonus if it hooked onto my stroller handle easily.

I would love to hear about great bags you’ve found or any possible solutions to my conundrum. Thanks, as always, for reading and giving me such great advice.
