This post is part of our special series, Devon’s Discoveries.
My daughter, Bean, just turned one a month ago. I knew one was a big milestone for her in many ways, but I was surprised to see how much her play has changed since the big 0-1! Bean has always loved to play with books, stuffed animals, teething toys, and activity centers, but we decided to step things up a bit and get her some more sophisticated toys for her first birthday. I had long heard that Melissa & Doug toys were kind of hip and retro, with their wooden design and primary colors, and really fun for little ones, so we started our quest for the perfect gift and toy. Once I saw the variety and educational quality of everything they had, well, let’s just say that I may have purchased more than one thing (my justification: excellent prices, so I’m getting more bang for my buck!). I think we did pretty well.
The “Wooden Frolicking Frog Push Toy” that my husband, DA, got her still stumps her a bit, as does the “Shape Sorting Cube” she received as a gift, but my guess is that she’ll have these new concepts figured out in no time.
It’s so fun to watch Bean discover new abilities and it’s even cooler to see how much joy she derives out of learning. I’m excited to see what other Melissa & Doug products we’ll discover as she grows up!
Devon is a wife (of “DA”), mother of a one-year old (“Bean”), former History professor, and lifelong shopper. She grew up with a self-proclaimed shop-aholic and sale-aholic mom, so she’s been in training for discovering cool stuff and great deals since she can remember. Devon lives in Seattle, Washington, where she is mostly okay with the rain but sometimes pines for her hometown in Southern California. With a little one at home and a crazy life, Devon is all about doing her shopping on the internet and zulily has been a dream come true for her with its variety, value, and quality.
On zulily now: Rockabye’s snail, elephant and the bee rocker you see feature crinkles and songs for the ride of a lifetime.
