What the Family Table Looks Like This Thanksgiving

Mom and kids holding a virtual Thanksgiving

This year, due to the global pandemic, Thanksgiving will be unlike any we’ve had before. We’ve already seen annual traditions like the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade go television-only. Some of your family might not feel comfortable flying home this year and the “all are welcome” feast might become limited by safety protocols. But feeling connected to our family and friends is more important now than ever. Instead of getting discouraged, think of this Thanksgiving as an opportunity to bring everyone together in creative ways, offering the much-needed feelings of community and gratitude. With a little forethought, you can make this Thanksgiving one to remember.

Let’s have a moment of honesty here: We’ve all been the recipient of baby shower gifts or favors that were…not especially useful. Right? (I know that’s been the case for me – for baby showers, for weddings, etc., in fact.) After all, what better way to show guests that you appreciate them attending the shower than to have them leave with a baby shower thank you gift they’re thrilled to take home?

9 Spookily Easy Halloween Treats for Kids

Bananas designed to look like ghosts, with oranges designed to look like pumpkins

It’s nearing the time of year when witches and warlocks come out of the shadows and excited kids (like mine) hit the streets for annual trick-or-treating. Our school has canceled the Halloween parade; I hope the trick-or-treating won’t be too, like in some communities. Everyone knows Halloween and candy go together like PB&J, but before your mini ghosts and goblins load up on sugar, give them some spooktacular Halloween treats for kids to fill up on first.
