Be Joyous! New Year’s Eve Outfit Ideas for a Party at Home

By Bailey Stuvland, The Bailey Daily
It’s time to celebrate! We have made it to the end of one of the craziest years yet, so that’s reason enough throw a party and give it the send off it deserves. As with Christmas, the majority of people spent their holiday festivities with a low key celebration at home. New Year’s Eve will be following a very similar theme, but that doesn’t mean we won’t be getting dressed up. Personally, I think it’s so much fun to add a little touch of sequin, sparkle or glam to your outfit to dress it up. Especially because it’s for this very festive one night out of the year. After all, we need to go into 2021 as stylishly as we can to start off this New Year right?!
The approach to this year’s New Year’s Eve fashion theme is to dress up your casual looks. So, that means, add feathers to your satin pajamas, or sequins to your slippers. Follow my drift? This year’s motif is “Cozy Glam!” Therefore; I have listed some of my favorite outfit ideas for a stay-at-home New Year’s Eve party this year. So, let’s get started!
Satin Pajamas & Sequin Slippers

Looking for an excuse to wear that extra chic new pajama set you got for Christmas outside of your room? Well now is your chance! Chic pajamas are the perfect match for this New Year’s Eve party at home theme. Bonus points if they have glam details like satin, feather trim, or velvet/velour. But, if not, you can always add the sparkle with accessories. In this case, sparkle/sequin slides or slippers would be dazzling!
Satin Slip Dress, Long Cardigan & UGG Booties or Slippers
What is not to love about another article of clothing that’s so similar to a pajama? A dressy pajama. Look for the ones in satin or with fun little details, as they will be the most festive for the holiday. For winter, these dresses look best layered. I would suggest either with a cute basic underneath, like a long or short sleeve top. Or, with a long knit cardigan over it. Either a chunky cardigan for a vintage vibe or sleek long-line for a classic look. Slip on a pair of UGG, shearling booties or slippers, with your slip dress New Year’s Eve cozy ensemble.
Sequin Duster, T-shirt, Leggings, Furry Slides

Long glitter or sequin duster cardigans are pretty extra when it comes to New Year’s Eve holiday fashion. They are fun and easy to style. Especially, when you layer it over a T-shirt and leggings with furry slides. This look becomes simply effortless. Since, there is minimal styling required, you will have more time to enjoy your at-home party with your people! So, dust off those dance moves and get dancing, my friends! Cha-cha slide into 2021 here we go!
Turtleneck Sweater Dress & Glittery Ballet Flats
A cozy sweater dress is perfect for an at-home holiday party as they are dressy, yet casual. You could throw on a pair of sparkly tights and wear slippers. Or, you could wear glittery ballet flats paired with your knit sweater dress. Whichever option you choose, just make sure you sashay into your New Year’s celebration with your best foot forward!
Matching Sweatsuit & Fuzzy Slippers

Get yourself a fresh pair of matching sweats and a sweatshirt/hoodie and you will be instantly on trend. Again, bonus points for the purpose of this New Year’s Eve fashion edition, if your sweatsuit has special “extras” like texture, color or flair. Or, if you happen to add your flair, that’s fine too. No stay-at-home look would be complete without your comfy, fuzzy slippers either. So, make sure you pair them with any of your matching sweats, and you’ll be sure there will be no regrets!
Sequin Top, Jeans, Short Cardigan, Velvet Loafers

This may be the “dressiest” look of the New Year’s Eve bunch because I threw in denim (lol) but you could also do a jegging or black pant. Sequin tops or shells would be cute here to wear under a black cropped cardigan. And, you could polish off the look with an adorable velvet smoking loafer as you two step onto the dance floor of your freshly polished kitchen floor!
