Ultimate 2021 New Year’s Eve Party Dresses & Outfits

By Drisana Wallace of Modern Cali Mom
We are less than two months away from 2020 coming to an end and celebrating 2021. I’m sure given the year we have had people are anxiously praying 2021 brings some much-needed positivity and light. With the pandemic and county guidelines most people are most likely going to spend New Year’s Eve celebrating at home. That shouldn’t stop you from getting all dolled up to ring in the new year from home in style. Bring on the glitz and glitter because we are more than excited to ring in 2021 with a bang…a socially distanced bang of course! Read along as I share with you some amazing New Year’s Eve dress options.
Sequins, Sparkle, Repeat
Nothing screams New Year’s Eve fashion like sequin. If it’s not a sequin dress, try a top, jacket pants or mini skirt to add that festive touch. Everyone is praying that 2021 brings a brighter year than 2020 was, so let’s shine together in our sequin. If you go this route make sure to keep the accessories minimal to none. Adding any jewelry to sequin will take away from the sparkly sequin statement piece! I highly recommend a bodycon sequin dress, a sequin mini skirt, or sequin pants skinny or flared! With sequin being such a delicate material I always side with a bodycon style. Loose sequin attire always appears to look unflattering to most body types, just a tip that I have learned with purchasing many sequins New Year’s outfits over the years.
Give Me All of The Gold
Gold clothing is such a wow factor piece and there is no better way to show off your gold dress, shirt, skirt or top than on New Year’s Eve. I highly recommend that you keep the accessories minimal to none with gold attire as well. Just like sequin attire, gold is the statement piece and we don’t want to add any accessory that would take away from it. Gold pieces to be on the lookout for are: sparkly dress, gold romper, or a gold skirt.
Back to Black
You can’t ever go bad with black for a special event or any event to be honest. The reason why I love black for New Year’s Eve is because it’s such a timeless and classic color. Try opting for your classic little black dress, animal print shoes, lots of gold accessories and a bright bold red lipstick. Be on the lookout for the class black sequin pants and/or skirts, black leather miniskirts and black sparkly rompers to be the favorite outfits for the New Year!
Red I Said
Red is my favorite color to be wearing for all of December and into the New Year. Be on the lookout for a bright red statement piece. I would suggest that you stick to a bright red shade and stir from the burgundy colors. I love matching a red dress or skirt with black shoes and gold accessories. Or red dress or skirt with gold shoes and gold accessories. Don’t forget the bright red lipstick to finish the New Year’s outfit. If you want to be a little funky, spice up your red outfit with some leopard stilettos or booties.
Velvet
Velvet just screams holiday attire especially in deep red, emerald green or black. These are definitely the top velvet colors you cannot go wrong with for the holidays. Velvet is extremely flattering in a dress or skirt only. I highly recommend adding a velvet dress to your must haves for an idea of a New Year’s outfit this year. Pair your velvet New Year’s Eve dress with black stilletos and a statement necklace.
Fur
Once winter hits a fur statement piece is my go-to wardrobe staple, especially for holiday parties. Two options for fur; the first would be a fur jacket over a sequin dress. Secondly, a fuzzy fur long sleeve sweater with a sequin mini skirt and tights. The combo of fur and sequin just screams festive and classic for New Year’s. I love pairing fur with a sequin New Year’s Eve dress, black tights and red bright lipstick together to make the ultimate New Years Eve outfit
Faux Leather
I love faux leather and the ability of this material to be dressed up or down. For New Year’s I highly recommend faux leather pants, a faux black mini skirt or a faux leather mini dress. My favorite combo is a black faux leather mini skirt, sequin shirt, a fur jacket, black stilettos and bright red lipstick as one of my favorite New Year’s Outfits.
Fun + Glitzy Pajamas
If for whatever reason 2020 has knocked you down on your mood and dressing up in sequin, gold, velvet or fur is not sounding at all comfortable to ring in 2021, trying opting for some new fun holiday pajamas as an alternative to your 2020 new years outfit. New Years casual outfits I think will definitely be a big hit this year with the restrictions that we are seeing due to the pandemic. Have fun with them!
Must Have Holiday Color Scheme
The must have holiday color scheme that will make your New Year’s outfit a hit for 2021 are: red, black and gold. You can combine them or wear alone, but make sure that you use at least one if not all three for your New Year’s Eve outfit. I love using and seeing red lipstick for any New Year’s Eve outfit. It seals the New Year’s Eve outfit to perfection.
If the Shoe Fits
A New Year’s Eve outfit deserves a good shoe option. I love pairing New Year’s Eve outfits with open toe fun pumps. Sparkly, velvet, red, gold, silver, etc. This is your opportunity to rock a fun pair of pumps. If you decide to go with a plain New Year’s Outfit make sure your shoe is the statement piece. A fun pair of pumps can definitely make a fun alternative to wearing a sequin New Year’s Eve outfit. If your shoes are super fun, make sure it does not class with your New Year’s outfit.
Whether you are staying home or going out safely to celebrate New Year’s dressing up always changes the mood and helps improve how you feel. I hope that these 8 simple and classic outfit ideas for New Year’s help inspire you to dress up and ring up the new year in style! May 2021 bring you all that you wish, cheers!
